Compulsory Smoke Alarms for Rental Properties

New legislation is currently being passed by the state government to enforce landlords to fit a mains-powered smoke alarm in existing residential rental properties before the tenant is entitled to vacant possession. These regulations will apply as if they were local laws, and local governments will be required to administer them accordingly.
